Youth Development Innovation

Within the Bertha Centre, the Youth Innovation Programme was established to support Africa’s young people transitioning from education to employment by uncovering effective, affordable, and inclusive solutions and by supporting the accelerated uptake of these solutions in low-income settings.

The Youth Innovation Programme works to create an environment in which young people have opportunities to improve their lives. They do this by targeting:

  • People between the ages of 15 and 35, and through skills development in social innovation, personal development, entrepreneurship and workplace skills.
  • Youth development by capacitating youth development organisations to be more systemically effective and impactful.

Plans for the year and opportunities for collaboration:

  • Philippi Village Changemakers Programme
  • Philippi Innovation Hub
  • Collaboration for Impact Executive Education Course
  • Measuring Change in Youth and Education Systems
  • Youth Development Co-lab
  • Youth Innovators Review
  • Pathways to Information Event(s)
  • Events around current topics within the youth development ecosystem (collectives).
