Cape Town Youth Innovation Essay Prize 2022

The Bertha Centre for Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the University of Cape Town, along with Douglas Knowledge Partners, are thrilled to announce a youth essay competition open to anyone 18-30 who loves writing and has great ideas about the Western Cape's future.

Write an essay of 1,500-2,000 words on the topic “Innovations for Mental Well-Being” explaining an idea to benefit the people of the Western Cape by providing innovative solutions, services, goods or other offerings. Mental well-being is a multifaceted concept that relies on many elements of our lives, such as our physical health, our social support systems, and our engagement with the community. Innovation is needed across these different spheres to promote mental well-being across our province.

We’d love to read about your great idea that would enable Capetonians, including young people, to flourish, while bringing benefit to people elsewhere in the world. Be creative, even surprise us – but also be pragmatic, showing us in detail how the idea could really work.
