In 2020 the Bertha Centre launched the Green Outcomes Fund (GOF) in collaboration with GreenCape and the World Wide Fund for Nature South Africa (WWF-SA). 

This first-of-its-kind, innovative climate finance instrument was designed to encourage investment in South Africa’s green SMME economy and address challenges for stakeholders across the green SMME investment ecosystem (a multi-stakeholder approach that provides for big impact and lots of learnings).

As we enter the final year of the two-year pilot project, the GOF team has gathered 40+ lessons around key areas of implementation and structure. These learnings build on the insights of critical stakeholders including green SMMEs, investors, grant funders and others.
