Impact Investing in Africa is a specialised live online course, offered by the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the UCT GSB, designed to equip fund managers, asset owners, consultants and other financial intermediaries with expertise in this rapidly growing field.
\ This interactive seven week live online course allows participants to engage directly with leaders in the impact investing space across the continent to develop impact investing and impact measurement strategies, analyse and evaluate opportunities, and engage with clients about impactful investments.
The course uses a blended learning approach that is customizable to participants’ learning objectives and schedules. Participants will have the opportunity to listen to pre-recorded lecture sessions on the core topics when it is most convenient to them and then during designated live online class times twice a week (Monday’s and Wednesday’s), they will then virtually engage with the speakers from those videos in large and small group discussions. Additionally, participants will be placed in learning groups that will meet once a week to discuss course material, questions and work together to push the boundaries of their learning experience.
This interactive seven week course offers a rich learning experience that blends theory and practice as well as off-line and on-line learning.
Participants will have the opportunity to listen to pre-recorded lecture sessions on the core topics when it is most convenient to them and then during designated class times, they will then virtually engage with the speakers from those videos in large and small group discussions. Additionally, there will be a set of “deep dive” sessions around specific cases or niche areas of interest that participants will have an opportunity to choose. Participants will watch the short videos prepared by practitioners for these session, which are designed to drill down into cases and debate and choose a sub-set of these sessions to attend virtually in a small group setting.
