Webinar | An Introduction to Impact Investing for Foundations

Impact Investing South Africa, in partnership with the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance, Tshikululu Social Investments and Intellidex, hosted their first webinar: An Introduction to Impact Investing for Foundations. This engaging webinar walked through the concepts of impact investing, it’s role in promoting sustainability for foundations, and how you can get started.

The agenda included leading experts in the field sharing their expertise and experiences of the role of impact investing within grant-based organisations.

The two-hour session covered the following:

  1. Setting the Scene: The traditional model of funding development in Africa that was dependent on Aid, Government Funding and some Philanthropy is under serious threat and also unlikely to help us meet our 2030 SDG targets. Why do we need a different approach, tools and strategies if we are to achieve the goals set out in agenda 2030? This session was be led by Dr. Frank Aswani, CEO of African Venture

  2. Impact Investing 101: Adam Boros, Head of Social Impact at Tshikululu Social Investments guided us through an introduction to impact investing. What is it, how big is it, who’s doing it, and how does it work?

  3. Impact investing strategies for foundations: How can you incorporate the principles of impact investing into your portfolio, and where should you start? Dr. Stuart Theobald, Chairman at Intellidex, walked us through innovative ways of utilising finance to maximise your impact.
