JASIRI Entrepreneurship

JASIRI selects, develops and invests in aspiring entrepreneurs in Rwanda and Kenya, towards an empowered, prosperous, productively engaged African citizenry thriving in ethical societies with dignity and hope.

The initiative tackles poverty and inequality by investing in, nurturing and empowering responsible entrepreneurs and leaders who benefit society by helping to accelerate meaningful employment creation, while embodying the values and behaviours of ethical leadership.

Bertha Centre’s Systems Justice & Innovation team is providing entrepreneurship & innovation curriculum design support, capacity building, and trainings for the JASIRI entrepreneur cohorts.

In 2022, we are delivering modules for:

  • Industry research in emerging economies;
  • Systems Thinking for Market Creating Innovations;
  • Systems Work & Industry research tool-kits towards opportunity case presentations and initial venture prototyping.

JASIRI, supported by the Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropy (Gray Philanthropy), believes that high-impact entrepreneurial success requires patient, holistic, and context specific support. JASIRI systematically identifies and removes potential stumbling blocks on the entrepreneurial journey and believes that entrepreneurial teams are at the heart of new venture creation. The program will take participants from idea generation, validation, prototyping to venture creation with a focus on Market-Creating Innovations.

Rwanda is the regional hub of JASIRI and programs are designed to contribute to Vision 2050. JASIRI seeks to contribute to the development of the broader East African region and will select candidates from Rwanda and Kenya initially.

Bertha Centre is motivated and inspired by the vision of JASIRI’s programmes and looks forward to contributing to the next generation of Market Creating Entrepreneurs to spearhead new economies for a prosperous Africa.
