Masixole Nkumbesi

Masixole is pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Inclusive Innovation degree at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business. His research topic centres on integration of artificial intelligence with isiXhosa for improved communication between the municipality (City of Cape Town) and its residents. In 2023 he presented a similar topic in a student competition at the annual conference of the Centre for High Performance Computing.

He is a father, husband, ice hockey Under-12 team manager, school governing body (SGB) deputy chairperson, trustee and a municipal employee in Informal Settlements Management. He has a background in project management (in engineering), aviation, sustainability, entrepreneurship, digital content creation, motorsport race marshalling, fundraising, contemporary dance and karate. Academically, he has delved into several fields that resonated with him at various stages of his maturity, which are architecture, sustainability, project management, salesmanship, and global trade.

He is an affectionate, pragmatic and energetic soul from the Gaba and Tolo clans of the Xhosa tribe in South Africa.
