Lorenzo is a leader and veteran in the social development space who has worked for decades to address South Africa’s stark inequities. He is the former CEO of Community Chest, a development organisation that distributes funding to hundreds of NPOs across the country. Prior to that he served as CEO of the City Mission in Cape Town, and held positions with the South African government and its department of education. He was selected by United Way Worldwide to form part of the Global CEO Development Program for Non-Profit Organizations. He also founded Urban Issues Consulting, which focused on research and CSI, and is a founding board member of The Big Issue magazine in Cape Town, and the Christel House South Africa (a school for children from impoverished communities). Lorenzo has been involved in the development of many projects, from residential facilities for street children to a women’s crisis centre.
